Nose
Cloves, cinnamon, vanilla are followed by a furniture varnish note that evokes imagery of a library. This is a step up with more complexity but still follows the same structure. Age has also brought some more polished notes.
Palate
Drinks more like a grape distillate than a rum, sweet and wood forward. The more vegetal notes have definitely taken a step back to wood influence. The funk has also toned down with more time in wood. Wood spice has kicked up a level, bringing richer vanilla, butterscotch, burnt honey and a touch of milk chocolate.
Finish
The fire is back with long extended finish but instead of black pepper it is more like red pepper flake in the way it fills your month. Like red pepper flake there is still a touch of fruit in the fumes, vanilla and black coffee also linger. Supple spices, cloves, creme caramel with a long, smooth and clean finish.
